There are few faces in our showbiz industry who dare to speak their mind. And Hamza Ali Abbasi is definitely one of them. He never hesitates to put his view point. Now the latest is, Hamza finds himself in hot water. As the model turned actress Zhalay Sarhadi recently appeared on Ahsan Khan’s talk show ‘Bol Nights With Ahsan Khan’. During interview she gave her two cents on topic of item numbers and also shared her feelings on doing one. Zhalay expressed she was angry at Hamza’s statement on her item song. She said that her item number became controversial because she wore full dress. Adding further she stated, “Hamza Ali Abbasi took advantage to point out other actresses who wear short dresses to show me as an example and it bothers me. The actress also said, “Bhai Meray Kandhay per Bandooq rakh kr kiyo chala rahay ho”.
In 2015, Zhalay did an item number in Yasir Jaswal’s Jalaibee. Hamza Ali Abbasi took to his social media handle and shared a post praising her for not showing her skin. He wrote, “I am tremendously proud of Zahalay Sarhadi for not taking her clothes off in her performance in the film. Proud of Yasir Jaswal for not going along with the emerging trend of revealing “item numbers” in Pakistan films”.
Hamza Ali Abbasi’s Post:
Zhalay continued by saying that after his post people criticized her performance and the song received backlash. She continued in an awkward tone, “It was all good until Abbasi wrote it on his social media handle, complimenting me with a statement saying, ‘Other women should also follow suit’. Which made me angry and I told him blatantly not to use me as an example to score his own point.”
The actress went on to reveal Hamza had complimented her in person too. By repeating exactly what he had said and how. “Zhalay, I am so proud of you! You were completely dressed.’ I said what? He said, “In the song, you were completely dressed.” So I replied, ‘Thank you’.”
