Sanam Saeed’s name does not need any introduction. She is undoubtedly one of the most versatile actresses in our drama and film industry. Her intense performances and flawless acting chops gained for her critical and commercial acclaim. Having risen to fame with dramas like Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu and Zindagi Gulzar Hai, she craved a niche for herself in the industry in short span of time. The talented beautiful lady is not only an actress. But also a singer and model. She received critical recognition for playing antagonist type in the 2015 family drama Diyar-e-Dil. Her performance earned her a nomination for Best Villain at Hum Awards. After established herself as a leading actress in TV, she made her silver screen debut with 2016 romantic comedy Bachaana. After that she appeared in a supporting role in Dobara Phir Se in the same year. Both films earned her nomination for Best Actress and Best supporting Actress respectively at Lux Style Awards.
Apart from her skills to make most projects commercially and critically hit, she has always lent her whole hearted support to social causes when it comes to charitable and social activities. Now the latest is, Sanam has another feather in her cap. As she has appointed as an Ambassador of British Asian Trust. The ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ actress took to her social media handle and shared few pictures from the event.
Alongside the pictures she wrote, “As an Ambassador of the British Asian Trust, I am particularly passionate about their mental health awareness work as it is an area that needs to be talked about here in Pakistan. There is still a huge need for more Mental Health support across different sectors which is why it was so great to see representatives from so many sectors come together to talk about it. There needs to be more work done for prevention and early intervention amongst our youth in particular.”
Adding further the actress stated that the purpose is not only about awareness about metal heath but also providing support. “It’s is not only about creating awaress but providing support for them. There are so so many stress factors we face at home, at school, at the work place, in our communities, and on social media etc. It is important to develop coping strategies for this from as early as possible.”
Furthermore, she urges, “We need more discussions to educate ourselves and update our systems, we need to hear people’s stories, find out where it is we are failing as individuals, as society or as a nation when it comes to dealing with mental health issues which are on the rise. Anxiety, depression and suicide rates are on the rise amongst our youth, and that’s not OK.”
Concluding her note she appreciated NGO’s work. “I’m extremely grateful to have met some people running fantastic NGOS, private practices and schools working towards this. I also met people who were battling mental health issues, people who had lost a loved one to it and people who are so ready to help anyone who is looking for someone to turn to.
