8th March is the International Women’s Day. This day is observed every year for raising voice for women rights. It is a focal point in the movement for women’s rights. It is a day that celebrates womanhood. On 28 February 1909, the Socialist Party of America organized a Women’s Day in New York City. After that German revolutionary Clara Zetkin proposed at the 1910 International Socialist Woman’s Conference that 8 March be honored as a day annually in memory of working women. At that point the day has been celebrated as International Women’s Day or International Working Women’s Day ever since.

The latest is, Hum TV to broadcast women’s day special telefilm ‘Beti Hi To Hai’. The TV short film stars Mansha Pasha and Hassan Ahmed in pivotal roles. The story and script of the TV film penned by Samina Ijaz. The short TV film revolves around a family where even the word daughter is hated so much. The channel has unveiled the teaser.

The project brings to light how the birth of a baby girl still considered a sign of bad omen in our society. The teaser shows how a woman is expecting her to deliver a child. Her husband and mother-in-law take special care of the woman as they believe she is going to deliver a baby-boy. But she delivers a baby girl which leads to her own husband and mother-in-law’s disappointment. Instead of being happy, both mother-son literally mourns the girl’s birth and want to get rid of the girl and mother. They kick the woman and her newly born baby out of the house. Produced by Momina Duraid under her banner MD Production, Kamran Akbar Khan is the director of the Telly-film.
The short telly-film will air on Saturday, 7th March at 9:10 PM on Hum TV
