The Global Leading Tech Giant Apple To Donate Product Red Proceeds To COVID-19 Response Efforts Across World
The global leading Tech Giant Apple has announced that it will donate a share of proceeds from the (PRODUCT) RED portfolio. RED portfolio includes iPhones, watches and accessories including the newly launched iPhone SE to fight COVID-19. These are slated to launch on April 24th. Product Red donations normally go toward fighting HIV/AIDS, but the organization has started directing money toward COVID-19 responses in light of the pandemic. Previously, Apple also donated 10 million masks for healthcare workers but that was only limited to the US. Apple will divert 100 per cent of eligible proceeds towards the relief efforts for at least next few months.
Now through September 30th, Apple will distribute some of the proceeds from the sale of Product Red gadgets and accessories to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response. Apple stated, “Now through September 30, Apple is partnering with (RED) to redirect 100% of eligible proceeds from (PRODUCT)RED purchases to the Global Fund’s COVID‑19 Response.”
Apple will now divert funding to “provide critical support in health systems” that will be severely affected by COVDI-19. This will enable Apple to support the healthcare system all over the world that is being treated by the coronavirus pandemic. Not only coronavirus pandemic, but this effort will also help the HIV/AIDS program survive in the long run. From which it seems it is a win-win situation.
